About the collection
The Archives section contains a collection of selected writings left by Copernicus, or their earliest copies, and sixteenth-century prints of De revolutionibus, as well as his translation of Theophylact Simocatta's Letters.
Copernicus' manuscripts and the earliest copies of his lost writings are presented in the form of digitized photocopies. In most cases they are accompanied by transcriptions of the original and translations into Polish. Individual documents are also accompanied by either regesta or summaries of their contents as well as information on where the original document is held.
The Archives collection has been developed either from original documents made available to us by the institutions which hold them or from their facsimiles published in Dzieła wszystkie Mikołaja Kopernika, Tom IV/ Complete Works by Nicolaus Copernicus, Volume IV (Warszawa 1992)
