Copernicus to Bishop Dantiscus

Frombork, 11 March 1539

Original: Czartoryski Library, Kraków, manuscript 1596, pp. 557-558.

Nicholas Copernicus (Nicolaus Copernicus) informs John Dantiscus, Bishop of Varmia, that today due to his consent he received from the Chapter the Canonship and prebend, vacated after the death of Felix Reich for Raphael Konopacki. He expresses his gratitude and does not doubt that Raphael himself, together with his father, the Voivode of Pomerania George Konopacki, will appreciate the favour of the Bishop.
